four weeks ago - Barbecue, Greek Wedding and High Park

Friday, October 1st

The Photonics group sponsored a Barbecue for all their students. We were lucky, because the weather  was perfect and we could enjoy it in the Ashbridge's Bay Park - it's a little bit far east.

Well there is not a lot to say about it: Burger, Drinks, Chips and Volleyball ...
On the way home I droped by the St. Lawrence Market and the St. James Church.

You know what?! I got an amazing job for taking pictures on a wedding. On a GREEK WEDDING.
Oh my goodness, it was soooo exciting. Even though it was a job and it was taff work, I also had fun watching all the quests enjoying this party!
I didn't expected this here in Canada, so I left some photography equipment in Germany, because I already reached maximum of my luggage weight. For example I decided to leave my on-camera flash at home.
But no problem. I rent it from a store here. I felt in love wit this store already :D
This was not the last time I rent SEOMETHING - for sure ;)

Anyways, I got this job. First I had to take pictures of the church ceremony. Ohhh wow, this church was sooo glorious. I couldn't believed what I was sawing. I will definately publish some of the pictures here. The church was soooo colorful and everything hand-painted of course. Very beautiful especially for a wedding!
After the church we went for the celebration to the ball hall in the eastern part of Toronto. It was one of the ball halls you have seen in movies ;)
For the ride to the hall, I was sitting in the front of the white big limosine :) and had a lot of fun with the woman who was driving ... she told me about her life and the men she was married to. Very very funny. And she told me stories about the people renting the limo - it was soooo much fun listen to her. Funny woman.

The brides fiancé is working in New York. But I am sure, he also is greek. So, all the american-greek guys from New York, Connecticut and  ... whereever they where from came for this one evening from the US. It seemed that a lot of friends and relatives traveled a long way for this wedding. Waow, amazing!
All of them where sooooo lovely and so nice.
I call them the crazy greeks, because some of them were so funny and hilarious at the same time.

However, I worked from 3.30pm to 10pm. It was very exhausting. I took more than 1100 pictures of the church ceremony, the cake cutting, the greek dance, the toast of the bride's sister and of all quests.
It was really overwhelming.

All the older men wanted me to stay and to celebrate with them after my job is done. But of course this was not possible.
Additionally I wanted to go downtown and enjoying the nuit blanche which was going on there.

But then, I changed my mind, because I was invited to go clubbing.
So I went home, lucky to get rid of my heavy equipment. The way home took forever. The city was crowded like hell. It was unbelievable. I haven't seen so many people before. I couldn't even bike because streets were full of people. On my way home I decided to stop at starbucks, have a break and of course a coffee :)

I had to dress in effect, because every club has a dress code. Then I went downtown again, where the guys already were wating for me in the club.
As I noticed later, the guys choosed the #1 of supper clubs in Toronto.
Enough 'bout that. After the club we went to see some places of the nuit blanche, which one was still going one til 7am.

Let's have a look at some Nuit blanche impressions: Well, but I DIDN'T take the pictures ... I didn't take my camera to the club. The picture were taken by somebody of my workgroup.

 Sunday, October 3rd
Well, on Sunday I slept in - of course. When I was fit enough I took my bike and went to High Park. I wanted to capture some fall-moments there, but I was not in the mood for taking any pictures. I was so tired of using my camera.
On the way to the High Park I saw this weird walk of a lot of religious people ... I don't know what it was about, but it was really strange... look at the pictures .... crazy!
The leaves of the trees in the park were not colorful enough ...I decided to come here again:)
